Functions and Roles

The Lord has given much instruction on biblical order, authority, and organizational structure in His Word. Learning and following these principles are essential to the maintenance of the "righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit" (Romans 14:17) that comprise the Kingdom of God.

Plurality of Eldership

The New Testament always refers to elders (plural) when reference is made to local church government. The local church government gives the necessary vision, direction, instruction, protection and correction needed for the body to function properly. Eldership is nominated by senior leadership on an annual basis, and voted on by the members. Our membership is a spiritual connection where we want each member to have a conviction in their heart that God has joined them with our church. Through membership we want you to be able to grow in your personal walk with God, move in the direction of His purpose for your life, and to develop relationships where you will gain discipleship, accountability and community.

Principle of Final Authority

With the divine balance and accountability found in the principle of plurality, there is also found the kingdom principle of "final authority." Whether in the Godhead, the family, the church, or any setting of legitimate authority, final responsibility must rest with one individual. We refer to this as "headship."

The Jethro Principle

God gave Moses a plan of divine order to pastor millions of people. In Exodus 18 we find Moses' futile attempt to lead the people of God as "The Pastor." The Lord revealed His structure through Moses' father-in-law, Jethro. It freed-up Moses and energized the leadership God had placed within the congregation. God desires pastoring to be done by many "captains of 10's, 50's, 100's, and 1000's".

Priesthood of Believers

We believe in the New Testament "priesthood of believers." Every Christian is called to do the work of the ministry (2 Corinthians 5:18-20; Ephesians 4:11-13). The local church is to be operated by a functioning body, in which every joint [member] supplies to "the building up of the body in love" (Ephesians 4:16).
